Arthur Dahl’s multiple dimensions of globalization
The 1st EBBF Germany Annual Conference took place this past weekend in Berlin. The very well attended event was a success both in terms of organisation and content and we will certainly feature more on what happened there in the next posts.
One of the most sought after presentations was that offered by the International Environment Forum’s president, EBBF board member and UNEP director Arthur Dahl. He presented his views on the positive and negative dimensions of Globalization offering a way forward that start from the current status where:
- Economic globalization is driven by powerful governments and multinational businesses for their own benefit
- Social globalization is being strongly resisted
- Globalization of environmental problems shows we are reaching planetary limits
- The information revolution has globalized our awareness of these problems
