The Eighth In A Series Of Conversations On “How Can We Make A Social Impact?” With The Topic “Using Film To Inspire Courage For Change” Presented By May Taherzadeh Film Director Of Mercy’s Blessing And Samira Gould Campaign Director For The Social Impact Efforts Using The Film As A Tool For Discourse And Action. They Will Share Their Reflections, Learnings, And Experiences Based On Using The Creative Arts To Spark Important Conversations And Social Action.
The program will begin with the presentation of the film, Mercy’s Blessing, which takes place in a rural village in the heart of Africa a teenage boy has a dream: to raise his younger sister and himself out of poverty. But when a twist of fate shatters his hopes, everything seems lost and he is faced with the ultimate choice.
The discussion after will be about how films can be more than entertainment. Films can inspire us, challenge our assumptions, alter our perspective, raise our awareness and focus our energies.
Additionally, the film creates a space for meaningful discussion to take place on the promoting equality of women and men; becoming a world citizen; advancing education and social change and many others.
