ebbf basel breakfast - How to heal the fractured world of 2018…?

How to heal the fractured world of 2018…?

“A twofold process… can be distinguished, each tending, in its own way and with an accelerated momentum, to bring to a climax the forces that are transforming the face of our planet. The first is essentially an integrating process, while the second is fundamentally disruptive. The former, as it steadily evolves, unfolds a System which may well serve as a pattern for that world polity towards which a strangely-disordered world is continually advancing; while the latter, as its disintegrating influence deepens, tends to tear down, with increasing violence, the antiquated barriers that seek to block humanity’s progress towards its destined goal.” – Shoghi Effendi

At the recent World Economic Forum Annual Meeting many discussions were centred around the fractured world we are in. It seems that the contrast between economic growth and environmental imbalance is increasing, the notion of progress broken. The world is fractured between skilled workers and others, as technology advances creating gaps in the labour market.  The ultra rich  essentially benefit and the middle and lower class remain on the losing side. These contrasts are echoed and reinforced with the round-the-clock information channels and social media, where everyone shares, comments on those tensions which feed even more towards nationalism, populism, dissatisfaction, separation and indignation. We may need to pay attention to this outcry and understand it as a desire for a new model. If we are at a crossroads or change of a cycle, what can we do to heal this fractured world?
The answer of some faith leaders conversing at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting lies at the core of humanity. Unity being explained like a big human family and quality on a personal and community level. A natural next step to learn and understand the current fracture is a continuous dialogue, a common agreement and solidarity. In the end the underlying concept is love which is able to unite us.

Join us for a meaningful conversation as we explore this together!.
