Beyond Cultures of Business Lobbying: Ethical Engagement of Business in Shaping Public Policy?
How do governments properly consult with the business community, and vice versa? There are many horror stories as to how business interventions can distort important public debates (e.g., debates around the science / health effects of smoking and climate change), but is there a cultural shift we can chart in which businesses can constructively engage in developing sound public policy? In this discussion, we will explore ethical frameworks for business engagement in the shaping of governmental policy / legislation, in line with the B Corp vision of business interdependence with society.
