Why is EBBF involved?

ebbf is a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, an initiative for businesses and organisations that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles (see below) ebbf decided to formally sign to and actively support these principles considering their direct fit with ebbf’s vision: «To contribute to a prosperous, sustainable and just civilization by promoting and applying ethical values, personal virtues and moral leadership in business and civil society ». They also reflect ebbf’s seven core values.

Letter of commitment to support

How can you get involved?

The following are examples of opportunities to participate in Global Compact activities :

  • become a “Global Compact Warrior” we are looking for individuals interested and able to become ebbf’s “global compact warriors” on one of the ten principles of the Global Compact.
  • engaging into the activities of a local network access learn and influence the activities of a Global Compact chapter in your area
  • participating in a Global Compact Working Group you can be involved in transnational working groups, connecting with a global group of people working on specific themes that may be of interest to you.
  • getting involved in a Global Compact Initiative there may be a specific Initiative that you wish to be involved in where you would bring ebbf’s research and the experience of its members to the table.
  • organizing or participating in Global Compact events you could either organize an ebbf Global Compact event or else take part in one of the many high-level events organized by the Global Compact.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Principle 1:Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
Principle 2:Business should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

LABOUR

Principle 3:Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
Principle 4:Businesses should uphold the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
Principle 5:Businesses should uphold the effective abolition of child labour.
Principle 6:Businesses should uphold the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

ENVIRONMENT

Principle 7:Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
Principle 8:Business should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

ANTI-CORRUPTION

Principle 10:Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
