Robert Hornsby is CFO of American Homebuilders of West Africa (africa-housing.com), which he co-founded in 2014 with Guinea native Mamady Doumbouya (1940-2018) and Jonathan Halloran, with whom Robert served in the US Peace Corps.
AHWA provides high quality affordable housing and housing finance platforms to members of the West Africa diaspora and to the regional West Africa market. Robert has led financial strategy for AHWA since 2014, securing over $1.5M in startup financing in 2015, guiding the company to cash flow positive status by the first half of 2017 and over $1M in revenue in 2018, with average annual revenue growth over 100% since 2015. He contributes to the firm a blend of entrepreneurial experience, financial and strategic planning acumen, and knowledge of the macroeconomic and cultural landscape in West Africa. Robert holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in African Studies and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
